Introduction
 f you've never experienced a protocol for looking at student
work you may wonder what one really looks and sounds like. In this "virtual
protocol," we present a Collaborative
Assessment Conference (CAC) that took place this past summer at
an NSRF Coaches Seminar in
Dedham, Massachusetts. Included here you will find the student work,
steps of the CAC, a profile of the presenting teacher, a list of participants,
and excerpts from the dialogue through each step of the process.
